The Xbox 360: Good & Bad.

Xbox 360: Good & Bad.

The arrival of the Xbox 360 thrilled gaming fans of all types, with the revolutionary new graphics system and game AI. Microsoft's new console brings the world of home entertainment to the Xbox 360. Also, with a new memory system much like a computers, the Xbox 360 has proven to be one the best console to date. But, is the price to high for the console? Are there to many technical issues? Are there to many needed accessories? Here we will debate the good and bad of the Xbox 360.

The Good.

Honestly, the Xbox 360 has many more good things going for it then bad. As said earlier, the console brings new graphics, memory system, and a plethora of home entertainment options.

The Xbox 360 has two models, the (300$) version does not come with an accessible hardrive. The more expensive one (400$) allows you to access these home entertainment options easier, with a hardrive. It allows the recording of TV shows, movies and music, with the addition of Windows Media Center of course. The hardrive allows you to stream music, pictures and movies from your computer to your console. The streaming system is quit extensive, yet easy. Also, the Xbox 360 sports two USB ports, this allows you to, for example, plug in your camera or ipod.

Many parents may be wondering if the Xbox 360 is safe for their child, I would have to say Yes. The console comes with an in-depth family friendly system, which allows you to control what games, movies, and tv shows. With this, kids may now enter the world of gaming, with the utmost safety.

In the Xbox 360, Microsoft gives Xbox Live a much needed face lift. Now you may rent and download movies, game demos, tournaments and features (ex. patches, maps, hints). The new Xbox Live is awesome for gamers and home entertainment buffs alike.

The game controllers for the Xbox 360 are also a great leap, no more cords! The wireless controllers offer the gamer a new sense of freedom when playing.

The Bad.

The Xbox 360 contains few bad elements, in my opinion. The only major problems are the price, a ew essential accessories and the early technical issues.

First of all, the Xbox 360 seems to be a little bit over priced. The model that comes with a hardrive is about four hundred dollars, even though this allows the home entertainment aspect, it basically makes the pure gamers spend more money for something they might never use. The lesser model of the Xbox 360 does not come with a hardrive, it is required to save games and such, but this can be purchased separately from your 360.

Another problem, though recently fixed, was that the Xbox 360 would continually freeze up. This would be very frustrating if you were in the middle of playing a game, or awaiting a download. Luckily, only the first wave of 360's had this problem, the remaining ones were recalled and fixed.

To keep your Xbox 360 at peak performance a few things are needed. Such as a fan, which cools down your Xbox 360 from over use.(20-30$) The controllers run off batteries which can cost alot of money to replace them, so to avoid this you can buy a charge and play battery pack, (10-20$) this allows you to use your controller while is it charging.

So as said above, the Xbox 360 is a great console that offers many gaming and entertainment options for the casual to hardcore gamers.
